Welcome to our Year 3 / 4 Class Family page
At SIiverdale Primary Academy, we currently run a mixed Year 3 and Year 4 class. This is a year where Year 4 can be role models to Year 3, benefitting from the opportunity to demonstrate their ability to lead, thrive and grow.
Entry & exit
You will come through the left gates, walk down the path onto the school playground. Follow to the centre of the yard and on the right, there is a pathway that leads to the Year 3/4 classroom and entrance, which is the purple door on your right-hand side. Children enter through these doors in the morning. At home time the teaching staff will dismiss the children from the classroom fire door.
Curriculum
As Year 3 and Year 4 are a mixed class, we have devised the curriculum around a two year cycle so that all of the learning during this stage of school is covered during this period of time. Please see the 2025-26 cycle B curriculum information below.
Assessment
We assess our learning throughout the year using summative assessments in reading and Maths at the end of each term. These assessments are year group specific. We then use the information to identify 'gaps' in learning that we plan to close. You child may be required to attend a short booster to help facilitate this.
Our main form of assessment is completed during lessons. We constantly move around in lessons, intervening when pupils need either additional support or challenge. We then use this information to inform future planning and teaching.
Statutory Multiplication Tables Check Year 4
Children need to learn and know all times tables up to 12x12. TT rockstar 10-15 minutes daily supports the children with retaining their times tables as well as the format is similar to the check. There are 25 times tables questions with 6 seconds to answer each one. Tests take place in June-in a 3-week period and is undertaken with a 1:1 adult.
