“The inspirational leadership of the headteacher, coupled with highly skilled management of other leaders and effective governance, has brought about significant improvements in teaching and pupils’ outcomes.” Ofsted, December 2016
It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to Silverdale Primary Academy’s website, which I hope gives you a flavour of the excellent education we provide to all of our children.
Rated ‘Good’ with ‘Outstanding’ leadership by Ofsted, we are also the top performing school within the local area, as seen over three years in the league tables for 2015, 2016 and 2017. I would like to thank everyone associated with the school in helping us achieve this position, which has seen the school praised for the following:
Pupils who are confident, articulate and keen to do well at school. They are proud of their school and their individual achievements.
Parents with very positive views of the school. ‘My children have gone from strength to strength and love learning’ was typical of the text responses received.
A strong culture of safeguarding within the school, which successfully teaches pupils to keep themselves safe.
Consistently good teaching which enables all pupils to achieve well. Teachers and teaching assistants work extremely well as a united team to cater fully for pupils’ needs.
Children making good progress in early years, with teachers planning exciting activities, helping children build their confidence and independence. Every child is known as an individual.

Looking ahead, we are determined to maintain this momentum, driving teaching and learning to enable all of our pupils to achieve their best. We continue to work hard to ensure that every lesson counts, with new learning at the centre of our approach. Meeting the needs of basic skills, including reading, writing and maths, is interwoven in our curriculum, helping maximise all learning opportunities.
Our standards for behaviour and safety are understandably very high, as noted by Ofsted – “Pupils have positive attitudes to learning… and are polite, respectful and helpful.” Our children talk about being ambassadors for our academy and their behaviour for learning reflects this.
Set in beautiful school grounds, we have a secure environment in which our children can learn, with the school recently benefitting from £300,000 worth of enhancements, including improvements to classrooms, arts and library facilities and outdoor equipment. We have also introduced the Silverdale Top 20 – a dedicated pupils charter, outlining what our children can expect from their time here, which also ties in to our commitment to provide our children with an Education with Character. Whilst we have a very strong focus on building firm foundations for learning and nurturing the important skills of English, Maths and Computing, here at Silverdale Primary Academy we also believe that there is more to a good education. With this in mind, we provide a breadth of opportunities and experiences, which seek to make school an enjoyable, fun and exciting experience, as well as equipping our pupils with confidence, ambition and a broad understanding and appreciation of the wider world around them, helping prepare them for the next stage of their education and beyond – we call this Education with Character. #EducationwithCharacter
We are also lucky to be part of United Learning, which provides us with a solid platform on which to build, as we work closely alongside an outstanding National Teaching Primary Academy. We are also committed to building effective local links with neighbouring schools.
