Parental Engagement

Parental Engagement

Here at Silverdale Primary Academy, we believe that parental engagement is extremely important to the quality of education for your child. Therefore, we prioritise opportunities for parents to engage with school and their child’s education. Some of there opportunities are outlined below.

Parent Workshops both during and after school include, Meet the Teacher, as well as Reading and Phonic Workshops. We currently have a blended approach toward Parent Consultation evenings, including the option to meet with the teacher termly through either online or face to face appointments.

We use Class Dojo, which is an online app, to enable parents to see what their child is learning over the course of each week, providing photos and stories of forthcoming events, learning and social events. We would encourage all parents to log on and speak to the school office if you need any help.

Silverdale Primary Academy PTA (Parent Teacher Association) is organised and run by a few lovely parents and teachers. Our aim is to raise funds through various activities which we then donate to the school to enhance our children’s educational experience.

Fund raising activities range from annual bingo evenings, children’s discos, as well Summer and Christmas Fayres. These events are planned and organised at informal meetings which take place approximately once per half term, we then request volunteers from the parents and staff to run the events. We also arrange social evenings just for fun! Donations to the school are usually requested by the staff and discussed by the PTA at the meetings. We then vote to approve the funding request.

All parents and carers of pupils at the school are members of the PTFA and are welcome to attend the meetings. As a registered charity we are also obliged to elect officers of the charity including a Chairperson.

This last year we have seen a welcome rise in the parent volunteers at the meetings and we hope this will continue. Meetings are announced using text messages and via our newsletters.
